The Mancunian Way - Our Journey to Operational Excellence

The brief : To create a visual identity that is immediately recognisable by all the clients employees and appeal to a varied demographic. The identity must be versatile enough to be used across a suite of deliverables and be recognisably ‘Mancunian’.

  • Direction 1: Uses the hive hexagon and Mancunian bridges and waterways as inspiration to create a symbol encompassing the ‘M’ and ‘W’ from the Mancunian way.

  • Direction 2: Takes inspiration from the famous Lowry art. This direction focuses on bringing people and culture into the identity with figures similar to that of the Lowry art. Inspiration has been taken from events in Manchester such as One love concert, and gay pride which display acts of culture, community and pride.

Direction 3: Uses the infinity symbol as a way of representing continual improvement/refinement of the operational process and helps visualise the journey that the team is on. Incorporating the Manchester worker bee hints towards teamwork, shared responsibility and the common goal between the team.
