Blackboard Redesign
Blackboard is an online portal used by students to access their course content and resources. The growing over reliance on this system has ultimately resulted in one that it is over clogged and confusing, making it difficult for users the navigate to their required content.
This proposal is to design a new dashboard by researching what content is needed and how users really operate the site.
Primary research was at the heart of the process: analysing the existing sites, navigation, inconsistent iconography, unused features and lack of visual hierarchy.
The next steps were to start wireframing dashboards whilst getting constant feedback from the team and students.
We then took the feedback and created 3 prototypes which we could run through a series of user testing to gain more insight on how a student would find there relevant material. During this testing there was a participant, a moderator and two observers.
The final solution was created from improvements and feedback from all 3 prototypes and included various tab systems, quick access links, card systems and a refined visual hierarchy.
